Editorial Process
Every figure on PlainDentalCost traces back to a named public source, computed by documented pipelines. PlainDentalCost publishes under one organizational byline rather than personal ones: the publisher is accountable for the data framing, methodology, and corrections you read here.

Every figure published on PlainDentalCost is traced back to its official public source and computed by deterministic pipelines, not hand-entered. According to state Medicaid fee schedules, the ADA Health Policy Institute, and BEA Regional Price Parities, the 62 dental procedures we track span 51 US jurisdictions, where the same procedure runs roughly a third more in the most expensive states than the cheapest. Our methodology sets out exactly how each dataset is sourced, computed, and refreshed, and the about page explains how we handle corrections when a reader flags something. The byline below is the publishing organization itself, not an individual writer: these pages are generated from documented pipelines rather than individually reported, so accountability for the framing and for correcting it sits with the publisher.

US Dental Cost Editorial Process · Data journalism and public records research
The PlainDentalCost Editorial Process is responsible for sourcing, vetting, and publishing dental procedure cost data from state Medicaid agencies, the ADA Health Policy Institute, and the Bureau of Economic Analysis. The team follows PlainDentalCost's editorial standards for data journalism: every cost figure links to a citable public source, missing data is labeled explicitly rather than estimated, and methodology is documented on the dedicated methodology page. No dentist, dental insurer, dental product company, or financial-services firm influences the data or rankings shown on this site. The team has no clinical advisory board, our scope is cost intelligence, not clinical recommendation.
